Australia is a globally popular tourist destination, attracting millions of visitors annually for its stunning landscapes, tourist attractions, or to visit family and friends. Official statistics show an average of 4 million tourists yearly, with 5.4 million visiting in 2023 post-COVID. Governments, including Australia’s, aim to simplify tourist visa processes to boost tourism revenue. However, due to risks of illegal stays or asylum-seeking, Australia applies strict filters to tourist visa applications.
Evaluation by Immigration Officers:
Officers must be convinced that the applicant’s sole purpose is tourism or visiting family/friends, with no intent for illegal stay, permanent residency, or asylum. Applicants must also demonstrate sufficient financial resources for travel and living expenses.
Key Factors for Assessment:
- Financial capacity and income
- Return ticket
- Accommodation details in Australia
- Travel history
- Invitation letter
- Evidence of emotional ties to the home country
- Documentation justifying the need for travel to Australia
